Kathy comes in line with a broad smile and dark, warm eyes. She is tall with short blond hair. Kathy is immediate with her positive words. But slows her greetings to something else she would like to share.

“I have a check-up today. I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual. Today, I asked God to help me one more time. He was there when I seemed to have no hope; he helped me get through cancer two times. I don’t have words for how I got through those times.” Kathy was quiet for a moment when describing her cancer recovery. Then she shifts her intensity, as she tells me that she still has so much more to give in life.

“I told my husband I had an urge to go grocery shopping before my appointment. Maybe it was to meet you.”  At this point both of our eyes were watering...for me, I was in complete gratitude.

I thanked her for her kind words and wished her well. I do believe she has more to give in this life. Kathy can teach me about living in the moment and appreciating the little things in life. Good for her to have the courage to share such a vulnerable topic.

Kathy you are not alone.
